Taboo Tattoo – Review

But I so wish this anime had…

I’m sorry if I don’t have the most to say on this anime review, my dear, sweet, loving followers. I just… There’s such a weight on my heart that I can no longer get out of bed in the morning without feeling the heavy regret of ever having watched this anime. It wasn’t so much the anime itself… Okay, I can’t lie, it was the anime itself. It was awful. Elliot threw up a mouse; which means it wasn’t that bad, but bad enough. Let me explain…

Taboo Tattoo is… About… I’m actually not really sure because there were moments the plot seemed to jump around. But basically, it’s about the American government creating these tattoos which are also related to some ancient magic and they pretty much just give you insane powers. One kid in Japan ends up getting this weird tattoo (that looked kind of like an edgy version of one of those fake tattoos you put on with water) and finds himself in a whole world of trouble.

The Good:

This girl should run for president.

I will admit, maybe this anime just wasn’t my cup of leaf water. Maybe it was just the way I viewed it. Maybe Elliot was in front of the screen too much and I never really got the full experience. But whatever it was, I did not enjoy this anime. Regardless, I will tell you some of the positive aspects it had to offer. For one, it was very action packed; there was always something going on. The animation for it wasn’t half bad either. So if you like well-done fight scenes, this may be the anime for you.

If this anime were a flavor, I would describe it as spicy. Lots of zest going on in the mix. I liked that part of it. In terms of story, I personally may not have been satisfied but I have to admit that there was always a plot and always a goal. Granted, Charlotte also had a plot and a goal, but that’s another story… Regardless, it did have something going on. Just not sure what that is…

The Bad:

Just grabbin’ girls… K Donald.

Finally, in my zone and ready to rip. Like Beyblade. Or Elliot with nice furniture. The point is I did not like this anime at all. Really, I felt it lacked in so many areas. And you guys saw my post on how excited I was for summer anime; I really did go in hoping to like this show. I think the only thing somewhat “positive” about this anime was that princess, and let’s be real here, she kind of was like Donald Trump at times. Just grabbing chicks left and right. Seriously.

I felt like the story was half baked, mostly. Like so half baked you could still taste the eggs. And those eggs were a no-go my friend. There were certain plots, like love interests, personal relationships and backgrounds (oh wait… That’s the entire story) that made you feel like you’d entered the series half-way through. And just so you know, it doesn’t look like there’s going to be a season two because at some point the group does buckle down and get to business. But how they get there just seemed awkward, like a rough transition from an ugly caterpillar to an even uglier butterfly. Also, while I liked some of the character’s blueprints, a lot of them felt like they needed other character’s to complete them or that they depended on them for development and basic existence. No literally, it felt like some of the characters wouldn’t have made sense if another wasn’t there to level them out. It was weird. Like a guy who carries too many pens weird.

I wish he’d promised this anime would’ve been better.

Kitty Rating:

Yeah so… We were pretty unamused the whole anime. And I got pretty upset because I felt like I’d watched a filler anime. It just had so very little construction to it’s overall story line and it’s characters made me feel so uncomfortable, if not agitated, with their poor decisions. In fact, the majority of the time I spent watching this made me feel like every character was making one bad choice after the next. And I’ve drank orange juice after brushing my teeth, so I know a thing or two about bad decisions. However, this may just be me. If you like a lot of action and a story story that makes little sense, if it even exists in the first place, then this may just be the anime for you. But if you want to wake up in the morning and feel like you really can make a change in the world, don’t watch it.

What makes it hard for you to wake up in the morning? Tell me in the comment section below!
